Thanksgiving and Christmas

Blair House Inn will be open Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. The new owners have decided to stay open for Christmas week. Now you can join us for the holidays. We will be serving both Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for our guests. Come and enjoy a traditional holiday feast in the heart of Texas hill country. We look forward to sharing the holidays with our guests. Thanksgiving and Christmas are not the same without a house full of friends and family. Since we are open Thanksgiving and Christmas, be a part of our family.

Head downtown to soak in all Wimberley has to offer for the holidays. There will be all kinds of events to see and enjoy. Symphonies, plays, farmers markets, and market days the first Saturday of every month. There is nothing like a small town Thanksgiving and Christmas. The 17th Annual Trail of Lights at the Emily Ann Theatre and Gardens is a huge hit every year. Beautiful decorations displayed in the gardens and around town. Lights as far as the eye can see. Once you experience what Wimberley has to offer, you will be coming back year after year. Also, being an hour away from downtown Austin and San Antonio puts close to the big city fun as well.

We want everyone to come and stay at the Blair House Inn for the holidays. Relax on the property to let the stress of the year fade away. Or head into town for the festivities. We have something for everyone. Don’t forget about the Blair House Day Spa. You’ve been good. You deserve a massage. Thanksgiving and Christmas are a magical time. Blair House Inn is the perfect place to spend your holidays. Book your stay soon before rooms disappear and you miss all the fun. Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas.

Wimberley Market Days

September 3rd, 2014 by blairhouseinn

Market Days

Wimberley Market Days has been an institution in the Texas hill country since 1964. Local vendors set up for business on the tailgates of their trucks. They brought and sold everything – including pigs, rugs and homemade tamales. Now, it has grown to nearly 500 booths offering goods for buyers to explore. Market Days are held the first Saturday of every month from March through December. Vendors and shoppers alike come from all over Texas to stroll along the paved, tree-shaded lanes of Lions Field finding everything they can’t live without. The Wimberley Lions sponsor all of the food booths and offer plenty of options, including BBQ plates and sandwiches, grilled sausages, breakfast tacos, hot dogs and hamburgers. Lions are hard-put to let anybody at their market go hungry! Visitors can also purchase popcorn, ice cream, funnel cakes, soft drinks, shaved ice and sweets all day long. Local musicians gather at the spacious Lions Pavilion and entertain the crowds who sit in the shade to eat, drink and rest. So, book a stay at Blair House Inn to enjoy Wimberley Market Days. You will not be disappointed.

Lions Field is located on RR 2325 about 1/4 mile from its junction with RR12. Gates to Market Day open at 7:00 a.m. and close when the last vendor packs up his merchandise and heads for home at 4:00 p.m. Admission to Wimberley Market Days is free; parking is available for a $5 donation.

“Great Bed & Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2014
My wife and I just spent three wonderful days at the beautiful and relaxing Blair House Inn. The Dallas room was perfect, the grounds were well kept, and the atmosphere was like staying with friends. But the best of all was the cooking! Wow! We loved everything from the amazing banana bread to the incredible eggs Benedict – and the desserts with wine before going to bed? Delicious! We would recommend the Blair House to anyone and everyone!

We ate breakfast at the Blair House Inn two days and were not disappointed. The ambiance and service was great and the food was high-quality. The coffee stood out as being really good too.

We recently spent a long weekend at the Blair House Inn to celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary. What a delightful place to stay. The accommodations were very comfortable and the food was absolutely fabulous! Each breakfast was delicious…but the Saturday evening dinner was amongst some of the best meals we’ve ever eaten…not to mention the fun wine and dessert turn-down service!

The new owners, Chris & Lois Mahoney, plan to build upon the inn’s reputation as the best inn in the Texas Hill Country.

Wellness Vacation at Blair House Inn

February 12th, 2014 by Lois Mahoney

The pursuit of a wellness vacation is something we take seriously here at Blair House Inn. Recently, this article came across my desk from traveltowellness.com. I think it expresses the same ideas we hope for our guests. Life in the Texas hill country is a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. Something we want to share with as many guests as possible. Whether it be a romantic getaway, spa day with the girls, or preparing healthy meals at our cooking schools. Your time here can be as exciting or relaxing as you wish. Find the goal and direction you want to travel and let us help you get there. Come to the Texas hill country for your wellness vacation at Blair House Inn.

Wellness Vacation

What to ask yourself before booking a wellness vacation.

1. What is the intent or goal of my wellness vacation?
Perhaps it’s to lose weight? Learn how to make healthier food choices? Enjoy a bit of “Me Time” to reconnect with Self? Learn how to manage stress? Give it some thought. What do you really need to maintain, promote or kick-start a healthy lifestyle?

2. How much do I want to spend on this time away?
The last thing you want to do is stress over money. Remember you don’t necessarily need to travel far from home for a wellness vacation. Depending on where you live and your goal, you may find a suitable wellness vacation destination in your own town or within an easy drive.

3. Who might be my best wellness vacation companion?
Think about someone you simply love to enjoy time with. Significant other? Sister? Girl friends? Perhaps you’d love to meet new like-minded people. Try to avoid travelling with people who may be a trigger for stress. Instead, look for travel companions who calm you and make you feel good about yourself.

4. What kind of food do I want?
Since food is the foundation of a wellness lifestyle, and what we eat is something that we have absolute control over – think about what type of food you want on your wellness vacation. Healthy gourmet? Buffet with lots of healthy food options? Calorie controlled? Fresh, local, seasonal? You decide.

5. How do I want to spend my daytime hours?
Getting physical in the great outdoors? Participating in yoga classes and educational sessions? Hanging out at the spa? Enjoying local foodie tours and cultural activities? All of the above? Or, something else? Your answers will help you trim the list of possible destinations.

Our Sincere Gratitude: Blair House Inn

December 2nd, 2013 by Lois Mahoney

To Our Guests,

“Piglet noticed that even though he had a Very Small Heart, It could hold a rather large amount of Gratitude.”

A. A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh

This wonderful time of the year is certainly a time for reflection. Here at the Blair House we have so many things for which to be thankful. We are blessed to reside in the beautiful hills of Wimberley and enjoy the quiet that brings peace and wellbeing.

We are grateful for the many guests who visit us and appreciate the serenity of the surroundings and enjoy the experience we have worked hard to provide – a chance to relax, rejuvenate and reconnect. Our four favorite words are “I will be back.”

We are also thankful for the employees who have worked here over the years. Those that looked at their position as being meaningful by providing for others.  We have had great chefs who create magic in the kitchen and housekeepers who care as much as we do about the quality and cleanliness of the Inn. We observe with joy the Assistant Innkeepers who radiate warm smiles of welcome and our Office Manager who has worked hard to enhance our marketing efforts and keep us on track with special requests.

“An attitude of gratitude brings great things.”Mike and Vickie

Warm regards,

Mike & Vickie
