Texas Bed and Breakfast: Wimberley Vacation at Blair House Inn

June 11th, 2012 by Blair House Inn

 Girasoli

This July we will be entering our 12th year of owning and operating the inn.  Both of us feel fortunate that during that time we have met so many kind and wonderful people.  We certainly appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you in the future.

We have come to the conclusion that the Hill Country is a great vacation spot for people who live inTexas.  If you have not planned a summer escape, here are a few things to consider regarding vacationing in central Texas.

□       The Hill Country terrain is peaceful and beautiful.  You get the impression you are in Tuscany, but it is only hours away.

□       You can get to this beautiful area without encountering long lines at an airport, and delays which nobody can explain.

□       You can drive your own car.  No standing in line at a car rental counter only to discover there are no more cars available.

□       You are not trapped in a hotel room which looks like all the other hotel rooms you have stayed in.

□       Because planning for the trip is simpler there is less stress.  Life is good!

□       You are never bored while staying at the Blair House Inn because you can experience regional wineries, visit great little Hill Country towns and state parks, float nearby rivers, and have a high flying adventure on the most exciting zip line inTexas.

Here are some of our guests’ favorite things to do:

Visit the Wimberley Glass Works, Bella Vista Ranch, Driftwood Winery for a great picnic with a breathtaking view of the Wimberley Valley, shopping downtown Wimberley, going to the Outlet Malls, Salt Lick BBQ, visiting the Johnson Ranch, Pacific War Museum, Gruene Hall and the Gristmill Restaurant, the Texas History Museum in Austin, antique hunting in New Braunfels, hiking the trails at Hamilton Pool and seeing the falls, and attending a cooking school to learn new techniques from a caring Chef.

Live, love, eat and enjoy your summer vacation.

Wherever you go, we wish you joy.

Best regards,

Mike and Vickie

What whisky will not cure, there is no cure for.

Most people are aware of Texas Wine Trail and the recognition it is receiving, but did you know that the Hill Country offers breweries and distilleries tours?  Maybe your significant other loves wine and it just is not your taste.  Have no fear we have found a compromise!  Local breweries, that you can even take a class to start your own brew, and whiskey and vodka distilleries that offers tours.  So knock out a couple of wineries and then hit the breweries!

We’ve been brewing since 1996, and now you can find Real Ale all over theLoneStarState.

 Garrison Brothers Whiskey ~Johnson City,TX

You’ll tour the legendary still house and sample high proof “white dog” right from the stills. Finally, we’ll walk you through our barrel barn for a small sample of our limited release. This tour takes about an hour.

Lady Bird Johnson Wild Flower Center

Now we all know the most beautiful time of year in Texas is wild flower season!  Lady Bird Johnson was a pioneer in establishing and maintaining the beautiful sights of Central Texas.  Lady Bird Wild Flower Center was created in 1982 to help preserve and restore the beauty and biological richness of North America.  Texas jumped on board and the program has been a success ever since.  You can visit the WFC any time of year, but we suggest the Spring to truly appreciate the natural beauty.  (Below is the hours and days of operation)
