Spring is upon us and the weather is setting the mood for warm days and cool nights.  Rain has been abundant this fall and winter.  Mother Nature is helping to create a beautiful Texas Hill Country Spring.  The Emily Ann Theater & Garden will be hosting the 14th annual Butterfly Festival April 21st.  Sure to be a beautiful day with wonderful activities you will enjoy experiencing the release of over 3,000 butterflies to the wild.  Celebrate Earth Day with guided nature walks by the Hays County Master Naturalists, live music, carnival games, concessions, and Commemorative Air Force flyover.  The best news, the festival is FREE! (Donations are accepted and appreciated). 

Lady Bird Johnson Wild Flower Center

Now we all know the most beautiful time of year in Texas is wild flower season!  Lady Bird Johnson was a pioneer in establishing and maintaining the beautiful sights of Central Texas.  Lady Bird Wild Flower Center was created in 1982 to help preserve and restore the beauty and biological richness of North America.  Texas jumped on board and the program has been a success ever since.  You can visit the WFC any time of year, but we suggest the Spring to truly appreciate the natural beauty.  (Below is the hours and days of operation)

Interested in creating your own back yard meadow with beautiful wildflowers?  Then you must visit Wildseed Farms.  Acres of wildflowers and seed production makes this location the largest working flower farm in the nation.  Crop production will be in various stages of growth during any visit ~ some fields in bloom, some freshly planted, and some may be ready for harvest.  You will enjoy the views and gain knowledge of local natural plants that will thrive in your personal haven you create.  The Country Store is open for purchase or pick up the free mail order catalog and have purchases delivered right to your door!

This is an opportunity to learn about the wine making process, to taste and explore new wines and to understand how they enhance the flavors of the foods they are paired with. Vintners and/or their Representatives will be on hand to explain their wine making process and the unique character of the wines they create.

Our innovative Chef Sebastian is committed to preparing a truly memorable dinner. Choosing high quality, fresh ingredients his masterful creations are specifically designed to highlight the unique character of the various wines being offered. This year the Vintner Dinner Series schedule is as follows:

For many foodies and wine enthusiasts the big question is not, “are you going to a vintner dinner?” but “which one?”  Ah, these difficult decisions. With the efforts of owners Mike and Vickie Schneider, Chef Sebastian, and award winning Texas wineries each dining experience is meant to be savoured and shared.  Be sure to book your reservations, as these dinners will sell out.

Our distinctive Saturday evening dinners are offered to the public for $66.50 per person, plus tax and gratuity.  Remember, reservations are required to participate in the festivities. Please call the Blair House Inn at(512)847-1111or toll free at 877-549-5450to reserve your table.

During the months of January & February, Blair House Inn, renown for its gourmet fare, features a celebration of Texas Wineries by inviting vintners to showcase their wines during one of our five-course dinners devoted to the vintner dinner series.  

Each Saturday evening from January 15^th through February 26^th, vintners and/or winery representatives will share their creations with visitors to Blair House Inn. Each gourmet dinner will feature a menu specially designed to highlight the unique character of the various wines being offered. Call for reservations. This year the series schedule is as follows:

October is Texas Wine Month!  The busiest time of the year at the Texas Hill Country Wineries is of course harvest…the busiest time of year for wine events in the Hill Country is Texas Wine Month.  The Texas Wine Trail is offering a lowered cost on their trail tickets.  Texas Wine Month is about showcasing the delightful wines of the great state of Texas.  Each of the 27 wineries will be offering a minimum of 1 and up to 3 complimentary tastes of wine.  This is an opportunity to discover over 4 dozen award-winning wines throughout the month.  Wineries will also be offering a 15% discount on 3 bottle wine purchases.  Visit the wineries, taste delicious wines, and take home your favorites to enjoy!

Book at the Blair House and you will be placed in the middle of the wine trail.  We have open reservations for the month of October.  Just call or book online!
