We’re very excited to announce our 17th annual 2018 Vintner Dinner Series!
Owners Chris & Lois Mahoney continue this tradition of collaborating with Texas Wineries to create a delightful evening of fine dining with wine pairing. Our Vintner Dinner Series has long been a favorite of Inn guests and local residents as an opportunity to enjoy gourmet food in an intimate, romantic environment and learn the winemaking process.
Saturday Evenings from January 13th to February 24th, vintners and/or their representatives will join us to talk about their winery, their winemaking process and the unique character of the wines they create.
Blair House Executive Chef, Chris Huffman, will prepare a memorable 5-course gourmet dinner. Creating innovative dishes entirely from scratch, Chef Chris will design his menu specifically to highlight the flavors of the various wines.
Our distinctive Saturday Evening Dinners are offered to the public for $70 per person, plus tax and 20% gratuity. Please call 512-847-1111 to reserve your table. This year the Vintner Dinner Series schedule is as follows:
January 13, 2018 – Texas Hills Vineyard, Johnson City, TX
The rolling hills and the soil are much like that of the Tuscan countryside, in Italy. Once Kathy and Gary saw the location that make the Texas Hills Vineyard they decided to have an Italian influence to their wines. All of the grapes grown allow wines to be produced with a decidedly Italian influence. Dale manages the vineyard and works to produce the highest quality Texas grapes with which to produce the wine. Gary takes what is produced and oversees the wine. Kathy manages the tasting room and invites you to.
January 20, 2018 – Sunset Winery, Burleson, TX
Sunset Winery is located in the former home of Bruce and Birgit Anderson where they raised three daughters. In 2005, the winery opened its doors and has been creating memories for other families ever since. When they opened the winery, they had only a 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon and a 2003 Merlot to sell. Those wines earned a total of five medals in various competitions. To date, every sunset wine entered into the competition has earned one or more medals, including a Gold in the Lone Star International Competition for the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon. Sunset Winery has become known as the place for fine wines and fun events.
January 27, 2018 – Austin Custom Winery, Sunset Valley, TX
Austin Custom Winery is one of the first micro breweries in the United States. Located in Austin in the city of Sunset Valley, our expert wine maker Mary Charron is one of Austin’s most experienced Vintners. Austin Custom Winery is constantly searching for the finest grape harvests the world over, resulting in a high quality wine. Plus, we allow you to design your own custom label for your own personal wine!
February 3, 2018 – Austin Winery, Austin, TX
Ross, Cooper, & Matt founded the Austin Winery in May, 2014, establishing the first full production, grape to glass winery inside the Austin city limits. After producing two red blends to wide applause, they convinced Matt Smith to join up and add the business structure to bring the Austin Winery to life. The young team proved their concept with 3 years of busty tasting room traffic & wholesale distribution. We work with organic & biodynamically farmed vineyards in the Texas High Plains, Sonoma, Amador County, & Walla Walla. We receive our fruit on-stem, transported in macro bins to our Austin facility where crush, de-stem, press, fermentation, filtration, blending, bottling, and service take place.
February 10, 2018 – Singing Water Vineyards, Comfort, TX
The name Singing Water describes the wonderful sound that fills the air as the waters of Bruins Creek cascade over the waterfall on the property. Recently thy received Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals for all wines entered in Houston, San Fransisco, San Antonio and the Lone Star International Wine Competitions. Their Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Sunrise, Merlot, Texas Reserve, Freedom and Sweet Lupe are becoming very well known throughout the Texas Hill Country and beyond! The winery offers beautiful scenic grounds with picnic areas which host many art and music events throughout the year.
February 17, 2018 – Spicewood Vineyards, Spicewood, TX
Spicewood Vineyards was founded as a winery that only produced wines made with estate-grown grapes. As we grow, we strive to remain as close to that tradition as possible. We take a “hands in the dirt” approach to vineyard management, spending a lot of time year-round to ensure we have the best possible fruit. The variation of conditions from vintage to vintage is incredible. Understanding our vines makes it possible for us to produce wines that we are proud to bring to your table year in and year out.
February 24, 2018 – Pontotoc Vineyard, Fredericksburg, TX
Pontotoc Vineyard was established in the unique terroir of the Llano Uplift in the Northern Hill Country community of Pontotoc, Mason County, Texas. Pontotoc means “Land of Hanging Grapes” and the vineyard was planted in the fertile red sand soil of a high valley surrounded by pink granite outcroppings and sandstone hills on a farm originally founded by the German Emigration Company in 1872.
