Here Are the Best Cycling Routes in Texas Hill Country
Blue Hole Park Loop Trail
Blue Hole Regional Park is home to one of the best bike routes in Texas Hill Country. This 1.6-mile lightly trafficked loop that is perfect for all skill levels. The trail winds around the entire park and features a beautiful forest setting with stops along the way where you can hop off your bike and explore the scenic area. It’s only 10 minutes from the Blair House Inn, so you can easily access it for a fun early morning or afternoon bike ride.
San Marcos Greenbelt Alliance
The San Marcos Greenbelt Alliance features a handful of fantastic natural areas that offer miles and miles of biking and cycling trails. These courses will take you through a diverse array of upland meadows, canyon bluffs, champion oaks, and juniper thickets in a beautiful display of Hill Country landscapes. Most of these areas are within a 15 to 20-minute car ride from the Blair House Inn!

Guadalupe River State Park
Guadalupe River State Park is home to some of the best cycling in Texas Hill Country. With over 13 miles of trails taking you through stunning canyons and along beautiful riverbeds, you won’t want to miss out on visiting this popular place. The river also provides opportunities for fishing and kayaking, depending on water levels. There’s nothing more refreshing than dipping your feet in the river during a warm summer day in the middle of your bike ride! It’s about an hour’s drive from our Inn, but it’s well worth the trip.
Pedernales Falls State Park
Watching the water flow over and through the large slabs of rock alone is worth a trip to Pedernales Falls State Park. This Texas Hill Country State Park is a fantastic place to go biking for all skill levels. There are a few casual biking trails, but you’ll also find a 10-mile technical, single-mile track that offers many unique and challenging aspects that you won’t find on most other trails in the area. You can also go tubing, kayaking, and canoeing down the Pedernales River. It’s about a 45-minute drive from the Blair House Inn.
Madrone Trail
The Madrone Trail features 7.6 miles of incredible biking along the shores of Canyon Lake. The rocky nature of the trail is easy to follow, with a few short climbs and small drops along the way. While there are some technical aspects to this course, most bikers will find it relatively easy going. Plus, you can take in gorgeous views across Canyon Lake during your ride! It’s only about a 20-minute drive from the Blair House Inn.
Hancock Trail
Hancock Trail is a fun and easy doubletrack path that lies along the northern shore of Canyon Lake. Most of the trail consists of smooth dirt with little elevation change and a few small creek crossings, making this a great ride for all skill levels. It’s about a 20-minute drive from our Inn and right around the corner from the Madrone Trail.
