What Is Blue Hole Regional Park?
Blue Hole Regional Park is a beautiful 126-acre designated recreation area for residents and visitors of Wimberley. This scenic area showcases the Texas Hill Country’s natural beauty with cypress trees swaying over the aptly named Cypress Creek, trails weaving through shady woods, and plenty of space for outdoor activities. It’s a fantastic place to spend a morning or afternoon during your trip to Wimberley.
What Can You Do There?
There are plenty of ways to make the most of your time at Blue Hole Regional Park, especially if you visit during the summer. Recognized as one of the best swimming holes in the nation by respected publications like USA Today, this three-acres of forested water is a fantastic place to cool off when it’s hot, but you need to grab a reservation in advance. There are miles of trails, a basketball court, recreation fields, picnic benches, and BBQ grills throughout the park.
Important Note: Swimming season at Blue Hole Regional Park starts during weekends in May and extends every day from Memorial Day through Labor Day. It is also open on weekends in September. You must make reservations in advance during one of the two time slots (9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.). The reservation system opens on March 1st.
Where Is the Park and When Can You Visit?
Blue Hole Regional Park is about a mile from Historic Downtown Wimberley and about a seven-minute drive from the Blair House Inn. It’s open from 8 a.m. to sunset every day (only closed on Christmas day). Admission is $12 for adults and $6 for youth (4-12), seniors, and military.
