One look at these vibrant teal waters of Canyon Lake, Texas, and you can probably understand why it's such a popular destination in Texas Hill Country.  Situated on the popular Guadalupe River - itself a delightful place for river tubing - Canyon Lake is the perfect place for some fun in the Texas sun this summer. Whether you want to enjoy a bit of fishing, boating, swimming, tubing, or sunbathing, Canyon Lake, Texas is the perfect place to beat the heat this summer.

Though there are different routes that will take you to Canyon Lake, Texas, the most beautiful drive is the River Road, which starts in New Braunfels. This drive is rated as one of the most popular things to do in Canyon Lake, next to visiting the lake itself. This scenic stretch of road meanders alongside the Guadalupe River for 10 miles. Giant Cypress trees tower over the road, and as you travel, you'll cross the river, drive through tree tunnels, and pass through some truly magnificent scenery. The drive ends at Overlook Park, offering stunning views of the area.

Though the Lake itself is often what draws visitors to the area, there's a surprising amount of things to do at Canyon Lake that go beyond a refreshing dip in the water. Water sports are certainly at the top of our list. Fishing is excellent on the lake, with largemouth bass being the most popular catch, but there are also smallmouth bass, Guadalupe bass, White & Striped bass, and several species of catfish. There are two marinas at Canyon Lake, Texas for rentals, or you're welcome to bring your own boat.

There are several parks surrounding Canyon Lake, Texas, all of which are great places to spend a day and offer superb swimming beaches.  Canyon Lake Beach is one of the more popular parks on the lake, but others include Canyons Swim Beach, Comal Park Swim Beach, Overlook Park, Jacob’s Creek Park, Potters Creek Park, and North Park.

If you want to take a break from the water, there are plenty of things to do at Canyon Lake, including hiking. In fact, there are 31 different hiking trails in the Canyon Lake, Texas area, covering roughly 170 miles of terrain! There are also dedicated biking and horseback riding trails in the area.
