Blair House Inn in USA Today

Blair House Inn in USA Today

Blair House Inn and Wimberley, TX are featured in an article on the front page of the USA Today travel section. Nancy Trejos wrote a very nice article about the small-town charm our beautiful city of Wimberley has to offer. Highlights like downtown shops and restaurants in town square to the natural beauty of the surrounding Hill Country. Nancy Trejos captures everything that makes this small piece of Texas so wonderful.

Jeanne Leonard, visiting from Connersville, IN said, “My husband and I loved the fact that it was away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities.” Many visitors to Wimberley and the Hill Country love the area for just that reason. It’s a place that feels a million miles away from the big city, but close enough to get away for the weekend. Jack Dougherty of Bella Vista Ranch, an olive oil maker, describes the environment of his 27-acre olive tree grove as, “…a day trip to Italy, without the 21-hour flight and $3,00 ticket.”

Blair House Inn is the perfect getaway for your trip to Wimberley. Spend the day enjoying all the Hill Country has to offer before a relaxing evening with a glass of wine and a homemade dessert. Or spend your days getting a massage and lounging by the pool and hot tub without ever leaving Blair House. We are here to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Give us a call and we can book your perfect retreat.

Best of Hays 2015

Best of Hays

Recently, Blair House Inn was named one of the best day spa’s in Hays County. The San Marcos Daily Record has a yearly voting poll to showcase the best businesses and individuals in the Hays county area. Many businesses were recognized for their outstanding service and commitment to the community. We take pride in recognition of the hard work we do at Blair House Inn. Having a day spa on property for our guests to enjoy is a unique feature among bed and breakfast. Our licensed massage therapists provide excellent service while striving to always improve. Spa appointments are available to guests staying on property as well as guests merely joining us for a spa visit. We offer a variety of treatments for all levels of comfort. Take a look at some examples and give us a call to make an appointment at the Blair House Day Spa today.

Aromatherapy Massage
Enjoy a relaxing Swedish or Deep Tissue massage using four essential oils and hot, steamy towels to sooth and relax tense muscles.

Hot Stone Massage
The warmth and energy from the hot stones transmits soothing warmth which combined with the pressure of the massage strokes, loosen and melts stiff muscles into submission. Releases stress, creates a feeling of well-being, balance and a sense of wholeness.

Lomi Lomi Massage
Given in a fluid, rhythmic motion, Lomi-Lomi relaxes the nervous system, increases circulation and creates a sense of well-being as it works with the body’s natural flow and rhythm. Our traditional Hawaiian Lomi-Lomi massage boasts several deep tissue massage techniques. This legacy of techniques is the product of generations of contribution, and works wonders to deepen your state of consciousness and promote a higher level of healing.

Acupressure Facial
Using organic skin care products to cleanse, exfoliate, masque, tone and rejuvenate, this full hour facial relaxes and restores balance to your skin. Along with acupressure points on the face, a neck and shoulder massage, and a choice of a hand or foot massage, this treatment leaves you in a completely pampered and relaxed state of mind.

Reflexology For Feet
In reflexology theory, points and areas on the feet, hands, and ears correspond to specific organs, bones and body systems. Reflexology uses “reflex” maps to identify areas on the feet, that may correspond with and energetic blockages in the glandular system of the body.

Hands, Feet, Scalp
Enjoy a relaxing and soothing experience of sheer bliss. Feel renewed and ready to greet the world! Peppermint oil helps to relieve tired feet. Other oils applied by request.

Raindrop Technique
With the use of Young Living Oils, a combination of eight essential oils, Valor, Thyme, Oregano, Cypress, Wintergreen, Basil, Peppermint, and Marjoram are placed along the spine. The Raindrop Technique is a method of using reflexology and massage techniques and essential oils to bring the body into structural and electrical alignment. It is designed to bring balance to the body with its relaxing and mild application. This is not considered “massage”, but rather a deep therapeutic treatment.

This weekend Blair House Inn will be hosting Westcave Cellars Winery for our 15th annual Vintner Dinner Series. Westcave has joined us over the years and we are excited to have them back. They produce a wonderful wine and are very knowledgeable about their process and the life of a Texas wine maker. It takes a strong mind and body to grow wine in Texas. Our Vintner Dinner Series highlights what is best about Texas wines and the people who make them. The Westcave Cellars Vintner Dinner kicks off our 15th year of this collaboration. Come join us for a Saturday evening dinner this weekend, January 23 and every Saturday until the end of February. 2016 Vintner Dinner Series

This is our 15th annual Vintner Dinner Series. Owners Chris & Lois Mahoney continue this series to showcase Texas Wineries alongside our notable cuisine. A popular event among guests of the Inn and local residents alike, the Vintner Dinner Series provides the opportunity to taste and explore local wines, learn the winemaking process, and how the proper pairings enhance the flavors of food. Join us for a Saturday evening of wine and gourmet food you’re sure to love.

Saturday evenings from January 23 until February 27, excluding Valentine’s Day, vintners and/or their representatives will be on hand to explain their winemaking process and the unique character of the wines they create. Our Chef, Chris Huffman, will prepare a truly memorable dinner. Choosing fresh, high quality and seasonal ingredients, his masterful creations are specifically designed to highlight the unique character of the various wines. This year the Vintner Dinner Series schedule is as follows:

January 23, 2016 – Westcave Cellars Winery, Round Mountain, TX
Just 30 minutes from Austin, Westcave Cellars Winery is nestled in the oaks along scenic Hamilton Pool Road. The winery is a few miles west of Hamilton Pool Preserve, Reimers Ranch, and Westcave Preserve. Whether you are sightseeing at one of these local parks or traveling to the wineries in Fredericksburg, Dripping Springs and Driftwood, They invite you to visit Westcave Cellars.

January 30, 2016 – Singing Water Vineyards, Comfort, TX
The name Singing Water describes the wonderful sound that fills the air as the waters of Bruins creek cascade over the waterfall on the property. Recently they received Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for all 6 wines entered in Houston, San Francisco, San Antonio and the Lone Star International Wine Competitions. Their Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Sunrise, Merlot, Texas Reserve, Freedom and Sweet Lupe are becoming very well known throughout the Texas Hill Country and beyond! The winery offers beautiful scenic grounds with picnic areas which host many art and music events throughout the year.

February 6, 2016 – Dry Comal Creek Vineyards, New Braunfels, TX
From a fledgling winery in 1998, Dry Comal Creek Vineyards now produces 8,000 cases a year, with expansion plans to produce 12,000. With only 5 acres of good soil, Dry Comal Creek Vineyards focuses on growing Black Spanish, which is resistant to Pierce’s disease. While we grow only one grape variety, don’t let that fool you. Dry Comal Creek has developed a series of award-winning specialty wines including French Colombard (Demi-Sweet and Bone Dry), Orange Muscat, White Black Spanish, Comal Red, Black Spanish and 1096 Port – each of them spectacular in their own right and meant to be drinkable now.

February 20, 2016 – Pontotoc Vineyard, Fredericksburg, TX
Pontotoc Vineyard was established in the unique terroir of the Llano Uplift in the Northern Hill Country community of Pontotoc, Mason County, Texas. Pontotoc means “Land of Hanging Grapes” and the vineyard was planted in the fertile red sand soil of a high valley surrounded by pink granite outcroppings and sandstone hills on a farm originally founded by the German Emigration Company in 1872.

February 27, 2016 – Texas Hills Winery, Johnson City, TX
The rolling hills and the soil are much like that of the Tuscan countryside, in Italy. Once Kathy and Gary saw the location that makes the Texas Hills Vineyard they decided to have an Italian influence to their wines. They even planted vines that are thought of as Italian, plus a few more: Pinot Grigio, Sangiovese, Orange Moscat, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Syrah. All of the grapes grown allow wines to be produced with a decidedly Italian influence. Dale manages the vineyard and works to produce the highest quality Texas grapes with which to produce the wine. Gary takes what is produced and oversees the wine. Kathy manages the tasting room and invites you to drop by and sample wines and shop the gift shop.
