Discover the Best Outdoor Activities in the Texas Hill CountryÂ
Explore a Nearby State ParkÂ
There are few outdoor activities in the Texas Hill Country that are better than exploring one of the many state parks in the area. Most of these incredible nature preserves offer unique attractions or sights like waterfalls, rivers, and even a former U.S. president’s ranch. Â
If you want to go hiking, Hill Country State Natural Area is a fantastic spot. Over 5,000 rolling acres of canyons, creeks, and plateaus provide a taste for the beautiful Texas Hill Country landscapes. Lyndon B. Johnson State Park & Historic Site is another great place to see a piece of the Hill Country’s past. The 36th president of the U.S. grew up on a ranch adjacent to the park, and you can take self-guided tours of the LBJ Ranch and the surrounding WWI farm community. You also won’t want to miss the gorgeous waterfalls at Pedernales Fall State Park. Take a dip in the cool water at the bottom of the falls for an immersive experience.Â
Cool Off in a River or Watering HoleÂ
There’s no better feeling than taking a lazy float down one of the rivers in the area after hiking through the Texas Hill Country. The Blanco River, Cypress Creek, and the Comal River all over fun and relaxing experiences with beautiful sights. Â
The Comal River in New Braunfels draws in larger crowds. So, if you want to enjoy a casual tubing adventure with fewer people, Cypress Creek in Wimberley is the best option. You’ll also find nearby Jacob’s Well and the Blue Hole, which are fantastic swimming spots.Â
Hit the LinksÂ
If your idea of enjoying the outdoors is playing a round of golf, then you are in luck, because there are a half-dozen courses near our Inn. Tee off on one of the many beautiful greens and fairways weaving and winding through the Hill Country while taking in the sights and sounds of our area. Â
See the BluebonnetsÂ
If you’re visiting during spring, seeing the bluebonnets is one of the best outer activities in the Texas Hill Country. Hop in the car and enjoy a scenic drive from our Inn, soaking in the beautiful rolling hills of the area. The Devil’s Backbone and the Willow City Loop are among the best routes to see fields of these gorgeous blue flowers blooming.Â
Bike Through Hill CountryÂ
Biking through the beautiful landscapes of the Texas Hill Country is a fantastic way to soak in the natural beauty of our area. The San Marcos Greenbelt Alliance is home to some of the best trails in the area, in addition to the Madrone Trail and the Hancock Trail near Canyon Lake.Â
