The Most Beautiful Texas Hill Country Waterfalls
Pedernales Falls State Park
Pedernales Falls States Park is home to some of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Texas Hill Country. A collection of giant rock slabs in the middle of the Pedernales River creates a series of cascading falls that you explore. Swimming at the base fo the falls is a fantastic way to enjoy a beautiful day in Hill Country, especially on a hot summer day. You can also hike, bike, or go horseback riding on the miles of trails weaving throughout the state park.
Safety Tip: Safety is incredibly important if you plan on climbing the rocks or swimming in the pools around Pedernales Falls. Flash floods are common, so if you notice the water level becoming higher or muddy, then you should exit the river. Of course, it’s always important to be safe when exploring the area, regardless of the conditions.
Hamilton Pool Preserve
The Hamilton Pool Preserve boasts perhaps the most stunning waterfall in the Texas Hill Country. You’ll feel as you are in a private, tropical oasis as you walk into this natural theater of limestone outcroppings. This gorgeous rock structure stands 50 feet over a large natural swimming hole created when the roof of an underground river caved in, leaving this serene grotto-shaped area. Waters trickles down into the pool from the limestone cliffs, creating a one-of-a-kind atmosphere that you must experience during your time in the Texas Hill Country.
Tip: The flow of the waterfall may increase into a beautiful cascade of white water after a rainy day.
Blanco State Park
The waterfall in Blanco State Park may not have the same natural beauty that Pedernales Falls and the Hamilton Pool Preserve offer, but it is still worth a visit. The Blanco River Dam creates a small cascade of water that visitors can swim, tube, or wade around from the shore. This Texas Hill Country waterfall is a great place to kick back and relax under the hot Lonestar State sun.
